Dissertation and Other Papers
I have conducted research projects and wrote papers on various cultural topics. Under the guidance of institutionally-appointed supervisors, I have been trained to do extensive library research and apply the ethnographic method, all while maintaining standard research ethics and integrity. I have two years of experience conducting fieldwork in an Indigenous village in Selangor, Malaysia during my undergraduate. For my MA, I shifted to digital ethnography.
Digital Curation of Malaysian Indigenous Cultural Heritage
My MA dissertation was on the topic of community-led curation projects of Indigenous heritage in Malaysia. I interviewed individuals and collectives that run Indigenous heritage-based projects online. These include local contemporary artists, craft market organisers and heritage advocacy platforms. This project, which earned me a Distinction, was not only a culmination of years worth of research practice. It was a love letter to my country’s vibrant and dynamic arts scene. Traditional crafts harmoniously blend with contemporary practice, all the while maintaining an accessible, community-centric ethos.
